About Us
Rides for Hope is a nonprofit providing reliable transportation to graduates of The Refuge program. Our mission is to break down barriers and enhance independence.
Our Mission
Our Mission at Rides for Hope is to break down barriers and enhance independence for graduates of The Refuge program in partnership with John 3:16 Mission, by acquiring and refurbishing vehicles to a reliable state for distribution.
Transportation is a cornerstone of self-sufficiency and independence. For individuals transitioning out of challenging circumstances, a vehicle can be a game-changer. It provides access to employment opportunities, education, healthcare, and essential resources often located outside of immediate neighborhoods. By removing transportation as a barrier, we empower individuals to build stable lives, contribute to their communities, and achieve their full potential.
Our Story
For many years, our founder, Tommy Hutchinson, and his daughter, Sophia, have been dedicated supporters of John 3:16 Mission. They’ve contributed generously with sock donations, served countless dinners, and volunteered their time in various capacities. Their auto shop, ST Garage (formerly ST Auto), has provided invaluable support by repairing donated vehicles at no cost for graduating students of John 3:16 Mission’s The Refuge program.
The Refuge is a remarkable facility helping men and women rebuild their lives through recovery programs. These programs equip individuals with employment skills, housing support, and essential tools for a successful future. A crucial component of this journey is reliable transportation. Without a vehicle, maintaining employment and building a stable life becomes significantly more challenging.
As the Refuge’s mission has expanded, so has the need for vehicles. This is where Rides for Hope comes in. Our goal is to collect vehicles, repair them to a reliable condition, and donate them to deserving graduates.
